July santa spotting

Never heard of the World Santa Claus Congress before I happened upon this Santa parade while strolling through Copenhagen. These Santa's did not disappoint and brought good cheer during an otherwise regular summer day.

The World Santa Claus Congress is held each July in Copenhagen...basically 3 days of fun with a Christmas gala show, charity events, a Santa World Championship, Christmas cake baking, dancing around the Christmas and parades through the streets of Copenhagen.

Just for you Mom.

the City Within a City

Freetown Christiania has been controversial since it was created in a squatted military area in 1971. Some call it it's own city while others call it a large commune. The residents refer to it as staden (the town), short for fristaden (the freetown). Copenhagen even regulates this area under a special law confirming its independence for now.

Needless to say, this city within a city was a thought-provoking area to visit.
