I learned a lot at the new station at TMMC.
Photos: @ The Marine Mammal Center
I ❤️ my volunteer work with sick or injured marine mammals at The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA where I have volunteered since 2003. We rescue, rehabilitate and release the marine mammals back home to their ocean environment.
In these photos I am giving a sick CA Sea Lion a SubQ, short for subcutaneous - instead of an IV like humans receive, we give a SubQ injection, a needle is inserted just under the skin to give the animal fluids and medicine when needed.
We are the world’s largest marine mammal hospital and our mission is to advance global ocean conservation through marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation, scientific research, and education. Two years ago we opened our Ke Kai Ola: The Hawaiin Monk Seal Hospital in Hawaii to help the most endangered pinniped in the United States. I hope to have an opportunity to work there some day.
I feel like this today: upside down and dazed
Yvette brought Dray up to the center for our volunteer night. He helped us with our medical charts as we were preparing for the night ahead of us and we hopefully helped with the Game 7 win.
We had a lot of fun and we did our best to keep up with the game and we were able to watch all of the last few minutes. What a victory!!!!
Always fun presenting at The Marine Mammal Center. My co-presenters were a blast today.
